After graduation, we headed back to the apartment to shower and nap before heading back out into town. Never could and will get used to 35 degree heat, so better to be back in the airconditioned apartment during the hottest part!
We went for a walk along La Rambla, having dinner at Cèntric Raval – feasting on cocktails and tapas! It’s only about 10 minutes away from the busy street, but as you leave Las Ramblas and head toward the café you enter a more residential area and get away a bit from the rest of the tourists.
I’m a big fan of Gwyneth Paltrow and love her website goop. Recently goop added a section to their website – goop city guides! I was so excited that Barcelona was one of their first guides. Suquet de l’Almirall is one of the recommendations.
When Koen and I travel, choosing where to eat is very important to us. So of course we first wanted to eat at Tickets, but soon realized the impossibility of a reservation. We settled for the next best thing – lunch at Bodega 1900, one of the concept restaurants by Albert and Ferran Adrià (of El Bulli fame).
Jamón Ibérico, the famous cured ham from Spain is a must-eat while in Barcelona. We had a cured ham bar right around the corner from our apartment, so we feasted on delicious ham sandwiches and patatas bravas for breakfast.
If you are researching the best place for tapas in Barcelona, you will definitely find Quimet & Quimet on the list. The café was recommended to us as well by a friend of ours so we decided to go our first evening!
Koen and I just returned from a long weekend in Barcelona, where my graduation was being held. We stayed in the Gràcia neighborhood, in the north of the city, where Park Güell is located. Of course it’s fun to explore the neighborhood!
